A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and found none. “Then he said to the keeper of his vineyard, ‘Look, for three years I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree and find none. Cut it down; why does it use up the ground?’ “But he answered and said to him, ‘Sir, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and fertilize it. ‘And if it bears fruit, well.

But if not, after that you can cut it down.’ ” ~ Jesus (Luke 13:6-9)

I’m beginning a series today that will go thru the next few weeks on what Jesus was saying to us personally in these last days. Exploring, very closely the stories that He told & discovering the mysterious meanings and how they apply to our lives. This is the season that planet earth chooses to celebrate Jesus birthday, when He came down the first time. So what better occasion to behold what it was that Jesus was saying to us. He’s coming back soon so in preparation, He speaks to us today from His word:

Oh, the audience around Jesus got the meaning fine! You see, God’s chosen people still had a message of ‘repent’ ringing in their ear which came just before the story from our savior about the fig tree was told. Focus was off God & on Pilate & the emotional turmoil news of their day. Living crisis to crisis rather then pray and connect. God gave Israel so many traditions, council & ceremonies so that the ‘vine brought out of Egypt’s chains’ would be bearing good fruit so “..That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.” (Isa. 61:3). When Jesus came down to earth from Heaven, none were found. All that God effort over many years, no response from the ground.

That was then. This is now. If Jesus were to crack the sky & stare us in the face right now what would He find? What are we about this day? Resisting evil or going with the flow? Doing what feels good, giving into lusts & temptations that happen our way, witnessing only to the mirror? ..?

Jesus, in His endless love and infinite mercy can steer us back on course. He is the one crying out on your behalf, “Sir, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and fertilize it. ‘And if it bears fruit, well.” You see the dirt, where you’ve been planted (life) God “dug it up and cleared out its stones, And planted it with the choicest vine. He built a tower in its midst, And also made a winepress in it; So He expected it to bring forth good grapes.” (Isa. 5:2) This is for us saved in relationship with Jesus.. Jesus died to supply us a new life. It cost His life which is the choice vine & the winepress His blood, the tower His mighty protection of our behinds provided by His Spirit. We all “brought forth wild grapes.” (Isa. 5:2) … If our focus is back on Christ life who gave us a perfect example of “a vineyard On a very fruitful hill” (Isa. 5:1) Fill up your vine with God’s word & apply it to your life so the Lord will shout, “I, the LORD, keep it, I water it every moment; Lest any hurt it, I keep it night and day.” (Isa. 27:3) God input that’s applied to life makes a two way relationship that will produce the fig that God is looking for. Warning: It’s Godly growth or sin gonna grow & bring.. (see James 1:15).

God says to us today, I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely, For My anger has turned away from him. For the ways of the LORD are right; The righteous walk in them.” Hosea 14:4,9 Do it today fam, don’t wait with bones dried by idleness only to to be cut down. ~Pastor Pete Walker

Jude 6 “..the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day

New T.V. shows and movies covering paranormal subject matter are coming out at an alarming rate. You have Ghost Hunters, Celebrity Ghost Story, Ghost Adventurers, Haunted History, Paranormal Activity 1, 2, 3, 4.. on and on. Are they novice, mislead or experts? Who you gonna call… Ghostbusters, right?

It brings up so many burning questions.. Is what they’re seeing real? Would a loving God who has given so much to redeem us back to Himself put us in a world with spirits of the disgruntled departed around every random corner? When we die are we going to be trapped in the very house where we passed away? Are our loved ones really dead or is some vapor of them haunting the place they last inhabited? Or.. Could the devil be behind one of the most elaborate and widespread deceptions known to mankind? God’s word will set the record straight. Satan does not want you to know the truth in these last days so he can try & trick you. So please pay close attention and take notes.. Before I rip into the scriptures, let me tell you about my own encounter:

My good friend, co-worker and Christian brother Carlos was tragically killed in car accident on the Foothill freeway in Pasadena some years ago. He was only 24 years old. We had done ministry in Cambodia and other parts of the world sharing Jesus with all we came in contact and we studied the Bible together on a regular basis. Then Carlos, my loyal buddy was torn from the pages of the living. I was inconsolable and took the news very hard. I still had a duty to see a shipment of anesthesia machines to the hospital back in Cambodia. We promised the medical missionaries we would have it to them regardless. In a low moment, I had to take a breather and so I went to the restroom to splash some water on my face. After I lifted up from the sink I noticed that someone was standing inside the bathroom doorway glaring at me.. but the odd thing was no one came in before or after me and no one walked in with me. I looked up and it was Carlos!! You could see through him like a vapor. My first thought was, how can this be? I even said it out loud, “You’re!” Then I began to think about what Carlos and I studied in the Bible. Immediately I said, “Satan, get behind me!” I rubbed my eyes and the apparition was gone.

What was in our Bible study that got me to realize exactly what was going on? Here are those very scriptures regarding truth on the paranormal and what Carlos and I learned from God’s word:

Luke 8:17 “nothing is secret that will not be revealed, nor anything hidden that will not be known and come 2 light.” ~Jesus

Let’s start at the beginning. What is a spirit\soul?

Gen 2:7 “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.” So, When humans were created it was: God + Dirt + Breathe of life = Living Being. A soul is a living being.

Where does a spirit/soul go to at death?

Job 27:3 “As long as my breath is in me, And the breath of God in my nostrils”

James 2:26For as the body without the spirit is dead..”

Eccl. 12:7 “Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, And the spirit will return to God who gave it.” Medically, when oxygen leaves the blood stream death occurs. Biblically, the Body that started out as dust turns to dust again (decomposing). The soul/spirit (breathe of life) returns to God at death whether good or evil.

Also check out Eccl 3:19-21 Animals/Man both go back to dust @ death.

Can a dead person carry out ‘unfinished business’ after his/her DEATH?

Ps 146:3,4 “Do not put your trust in princes, Nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help.

His spirit departs, he returns to his earth; In that very day his plans perish.”

Can the dead bring us special messages, that only they would know?

Ps 6:5 “For in death there is no remembrance of You; In the grave who will give You thanks?” Like the pirates of old said, Dead men tell no tales.

How much does the dead know and can they haunt places or locations?

Eccl 9:5,6,10 “For the living know that they will die; But the dead know nothing, And they have no more reward, For the memory of them is forgotten.

Also their love, their hatred, and their envy have now perished; Nevermore will they have a share In anything done under the sun.

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.”

When will the dead be raised and what will happen to us?

1Cor. 15:52,53 “at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.” The last trumpet also called Jesus 2nd coming is explained in detail in 1Thes. 4:13-18

Job 19:25-27 “For I know that my Redeemer lives, And He shall stand at last on the earth; And after my skin is destroyed, this I know, That in my flesh I shall see God, Whom I shall see for myself, And my eyes shall behold, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!”

John 5:28,29 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice ‘and come forth–those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.’” ~Jesus

So what does Satan have to gain by fooling the whole world? What message is the devil trying to get across by doing this? First, Rev. 12:9 tells us that Satan & his angels (also called demons) are cast here on earth after their rebellion in heaven. The doctrine of the immortal soul (immortality outside of Jesus) is the basic foundation of Witchcraft, Astrology and pagan worship. Jesus is the way (see John 14:6) and God alone has immortality (see 1Tim . 6:15,16). Sorcery claims to receive it’s power and wisdom from the spirits of the dead (See Exodus 7:11, 1Sam. 28:3-25 & Dan. 2:2, also Acts 16:16-18). Regarding our future look at this entry in Revelation 18:23,24 “for by your sorcery all the nations were deceived. “And in her was found the blood of prophets and saints, and of all who were slain on the earth.” In 2Cor. 11:13 the very apostles of Jesus are impersonated. In vs. 14, Satan who is an angel of darkness transforms himself into an angel of light. Mat. 24:24 Jesus warns us of great signs and wonders in the last days. So demons are pushing Satan’s agenda of immortality outside of Jesus by having Ghost encounters happen. If Satan himself came to you and tried to sell you this lie, we would know from Eden’s first lie (Gen. 3:4) not to believe him. But if the devil can create a shocking event in our life and we tell others (or have a TV show about it) it makes more of an impact and sticks in our head. Satan seeks to impersonate Christ Himself in the last days, said Jesus in Mat. 24:23,24. The human mind works in steps. If you believe a little, then you eventually believe a lot. Makes us more open to suggestion. When Satan temped Jesus in Mat. 4, he wanted Jesus to bow down and worship him. Would any Christian, in their right mind on earth today bow down and worship Satan? So you see Satan must trick us into thinking he is Jesus. Satan will also be working signs and wonders to make the sale.. There is a mark of the beast the devil wants to put on you. More on that later.. Until then, beware, pray & keep studied up in the Word of God.

“For He is not the God of the dead but of the living, for all live to Him.” Luke 20:38

~article by Pastor Pete Walker (please get at me with any questions or feedback)

This is a 1st in a series called, “I’m Saved.. Now what?!” So you made the alter call or you accepted Jesus at an event… so how does this all work? We are going to cover the practical life applications of Christian living & how to make it from the concrete to Heaven. Grab your Bible or open up in another internet browser an Online Bible … (if you are on your phone download YouVersion’s Bible App.) so you can follow along. I use the NKJV version of the Bible for this series.

First thing I want to say is Welcome! Welcome to the family of God! Jesus has chosen you out of everyone else to be adopted into the family of Heaven. Heaven celebrated as you were accepting Jesus into your heart. It’s a real big deal.

The goal of this family is to serve God and love people. Some will tell you that Christianity is a set of rules. It’s relationship between a God that loves you with an everlasting love and you. Much sacrifice was made to get you in that place where you & God could be together. (see Romans 5:6-11)

How can I be certain that I am saved?
God’s word (the Bible) says:
* Admit we have sinned “for all have sinned & fall short of the glory of God..” Romans 3:23 “the wages (or price) of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23 “If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.” 1John 1:10

* Believe in Jesus Christ, “as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name” John 1:12 Jesus Himself made this promise for you “All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.” John 6:37

* Confess that Jesus is Lord “if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus & believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9 (see Ephesians 2:8,9)

When your feelings get the best of you, say Romans 10:9 out loud. Don’t depend on your feelings. Some feel great joy & freedom in the beginning but this will fade with time.. this is normal.

* Stay growing – God, like a good loving father calls you ‘His child’, and has sent His Holy Spirit to work inside you. Jesus said, “the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, & bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.” John 14:26

* Progress NOT perfection. Always keep this in mind when discouragement comes. God’s word says, “For there is not a just man on earth who does good & does not sin.” Ecclesiastes 7:20 Now that you have a desire to change you will regret your failures. But it’s about baby steps, practice when you read in the Bible & trust that the Holy Spirit will get you there.

* Don’t give up! Doubts & failures will come. Salvation happens in an instant but the other process, called Sanctification is a process of gradual growth. God made you for a mission. He has a plan for your life & won’t give up on you. Read His word to hear His voice daily & ask for His help. God promises to help you improve … “He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ..” Philippians 1:6  – Pastor Pete “DJ one3” Walker
